Heart Moon - Rosny Barn

Expect shakuhachi, ethereal Baroque vocals, shimmering fiddle, harp-like guitar, and a rousing chorus performing original and ancient music that's passed down generations of musicians.

Including the world premiere of Anne Norman's 'Heart Moon', based on a Japanese zen meditation.

Anne Norman is a shakuhachi (bamboo flute) performer and composer, performing traditional & contemporary Japanese, European and Australian art music, to cross-over world fusion and free-form impro with musicians, dancers and artists of various genres and cultural heritages. Anne has performed across Australia and in Japan, America and Europe.

Emily Sheppard is a violinist, violist, improviser and composer. Trained in classical music at the Australian National Academy of Music in Melbourne (2012/13), she is now a member of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and Van Diemen’s Band. She’s been part of performance and recording projects with Paul Kelly, Katie Noonan, DJ Spooky, Michael Kieran Harvey and the Australian Chamber Orchestra. She performs in various contemporary folk bands and improvisation ensembles and writes her own music.

Yyan Ng is a multi-instrumentalist, improviser, composer, collaborator. He has played with and/or supported acts such as Emma Anglesey, Daniel Champagne, Shaun Kirk, Jeff Lang, Ben Salter, The East Pointers and Brian Ritchie and performed all over Australia including Hastings Cave, MONA FOMA, Dark MOFO, Woodford Folk Festival, Cygnet Folk Festival, Junction Arts Festival, Festivale, Marion Bay Falls Festival, Taste of Tasmania, Jackey’s Marsh Forest Festival and Amplified Awards.

Helen Thomson is an internationally renowned performer, with appearances (in Europe) withsuch outfits as Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra and Choir, the Netherlands Bach Society, the Egidius College and the Netherlands Radio Choir, and (in Australia) the Song Company, Festival of Voices, e21, La Compania, Ludovico's Band, and Van Diemen's Band. She is a founding member of baroque/contemporary ensemble Sequenza, directs Sing Australia Hobart and the UTas Conservatorium Vocal Ensemble, and teaches Classical Voice at the UTas Conservatorium.
