Join us for the opening of 3 exhibitions at Moonah Arts Centre:
Foyer: Bridal Sedan Chair - Adelphie He
Bridal Sedan Chair is an interactive artwork that invites visitors (especially woman-identifying) to sit inside and play within it. Traditionally a type of transportation used for Chinese wedding ceremonies, Adelphie uses various embellishments to mock the seriousness of traditional customs placed upon this object.
Exhibition Space: MAWSON - Martin Walch
MAWSON is an exhibition of photographic and screen-based artworks that explore the distortions of space and time experienced by those living and working at Mawson Station during an Antarctic summer. The works emerge from a three-month residency spent at Mawson during the austral summer of 2017/18, as a result of being awarded the Australian Antarctic Arts Fellowship.
Project Space: through rose-coloured glasses - Yumemi Hiraki and Corinna Howell
through rose-coloured glasses is an interactive exhibition by Yumemi Hiraki and Corinna Howell which explores the fleeting memories of loved ones, as they experience the process of accepting a loss. Enveloped in their shared Japanese ties, the artists invite visitors to add their individual stories and find connections though imagery.
