In Japan, winter is the busiest time for Japanese calligraphy and its community. Let's explore the relationship between your soul, the meaning of Japanese characters and sumi (ink) in the stillness of winter.
Maiko Howell was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan and began doing calligraphy at age 5 under the guidance of her mother - also a calligrapher. She became a master of Japanese traditional calligraphy in 2017 and has held workshops throughout Eastern Japan. In May 2022 she conducted a workshop at Story Festival, an Intercultural art festival at Rosny Barn and this will be her second workshop in Australia.

*Please note that the workshop may divide into 2 sessions (1 hour each), depending on the number of attendees.
*Attendees must follow the rules and guidelines of the Bujinkan Tasmania Dojo.
