The Hobart-Yaizu sister city relationship has been fostering connections between Tasmania and Japan since 1977.
In honour of the upcoming visit by a delegation from Yaizu City, the Australia-Japan Society of Tasmania is hosting an informal dinner to celebrate the past, present and future of the relationship.
Joining us will be Mr Hiromichi Nakano (Mayor of Yaizu City) and Mr Shuzo Matsumoto (President of the Yaizu-Hobart Friendship Association). They will be accompanied by their spouses and five staff from Yaizu City Council.
Guests will include members of the Australia-Japan Society of Tasmania, the Japan Club of Tasmania, the Japanese Teachers Network Tasmania, the JET Alumni Association, the Hobart-Yaizu Sister City Committee and other supporters of the sister city relationship.
This very special dinner will take place in a private room at the Ball and Chain Grill. The ticket price includes a two-course set menu, featuring the finest local produce:
MAIN COURSE
- Eye Fillet Steak
- Tasmanian Atlantic Salmon
- Lamb Shank
- Vegetarian Penne Pasta
DESSERT
- Chocolate Fudge Pudding
- Apple Crumble
Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options will be available. Other dietary requirements can also be catered for on request (no advance notice is required).
A modest amount of wine will be provided. Additional drinks will need to be ordered and paid for separately on the night.
There is no dress code. Please think of the evening as being a casual dinner with friends, rather than a formal celebration.
As there are limited spaces, we regret that this event is by invitation only. However, all invitees are welcome to bring a guest if they wish. Ticket sales will close at 5pm on Monday 20 November, so please ensure that you register promptly.
We look forward to celebrating the enduring relationship between Hobart and Yaizu in style!
