UPDATE: FRIDAY EVENING
Unfortunately, the wintry weather is predicted to continue into the weekend. We therefore regret to announce that this year's hanami picnic is cancelled.
However, we have plans for an even bigger and better celebration next year. We look forward to seeing you all beneath the beautiful cherry trees then.
**********
Spring has arrived in Tasmania, so let's gather in Deloraine and enjoy お花見 (cherry blossom viewing) together.
This will be a FREE joint event with the Japan Club Tasmania, and will bring together members of the Japanese community from all around the State. Friends, family and anyone with an interest in Japan are welcome to join us.
We will spend a relaxing afternoon enjoying a picnic beneath the cherry trees. Please bring your own food and drink, and if you wish, something to share. BYO picnic blanket or blue tarp!
This gathering will take place on the southern side of the Deloraine Riverbank Reserve, at the start of the Highland Lakes Road. The location can be found on Google Maps here. You will need to organise your own transport to and from Deloraine.
Attached is an A4 flyer if you would like to spread the word in your workplace or amongst your friends and family, too.
We look forward to seeing you under the beautiful cherry trees!
NOTE: If bad weather is forecast, we may make a late decision to postpone the event. Any such decision will be made at least 24 hours in advance and will be communicated to everyone who is registered.
