Umitaka Maru, a Training and Research vessel of Tokyo University of Marine Science & Technology is visiting Hobart again after its training and research in the Antarctic Waters.

AJS-TAS is pleased to have the opportunity for our members, friends and the Antarctic community to visit the vessel.

The meeting time for the visit will be at 2pm on Wednesday 24th January 2018.

Please wear flat, enclosed shoes on the day (strictly no sandals or high-heels). Please also note that no photography is permitted in the wharf area.

RSVP is essential. Please register for this event by Tuesday 16th January 2018. It is advised to register even if you are uncertain about the availability at this stage, as without pre-registration you are not allowed to get on board.

A short film chronicling last year's voyage is available on YouTube.

We will also host a BBQ Shinnenkai (New Year Party) welcoming the students, scientists and ship’s personnel together with AJS-TAS members, friends and the Antarctic community. Please register separately for the BBQ here.
