Umitaka Maru, a Training and Research vessel of Tokyo University of Marine Science & Technology is visiting Hobart again after its training and research in the Antarctic Waters.

AJS-TAS is pleased to host a BBQ Shinnenkai (New Year Party) welcoming the students, scientists and ship’s personnel together with AJS-TAS members, friends and the Antarctic community.

As the January 2018 visit falls in the middle of the week, our BBQ Shinnenkai will be held on a Wednesday evening. We will meet at the Waterworks Reserve at 6pm on 24 January 2018.

RSVP is essential. Please register for this event by Friday 19th January 2018.

FOOD/REFRESHMENTS: BBQ meats and salads will be supplied – please BYO refreshments.

Bring your friends, and enjoy a relaxed day with students, scientists and crew members of Umitaka Maru, fresh from the Antarctic Waters.

There is also the opportunity to visit the vessel on the afternoon prior to the BBQ. Please register separately for the vessel visit here.
